Failed Class 12? Or left studies after Class 10? First — you are not alone, and second — failing an exam is not the end of the road. Every year thousands of students complete Class 10/12 as private candidates through open schooling and then move on to college, diplomas and government jobs exactly like regular students. An open schooling certificate is fully equivalent to a regular board certificate.
Step 1 — Register as a private candidate
Class 10 (Secondary) and Class 12 (Senior Secondary) admissions for private candidates are straightforward. Eligibility is simple:
- Class 10: Minimum age 14 (no previous pass certificate required)
- Class 12: Minimum age 16 (Class 10 pass certificate required — a marksheet copy works if the original is lost)
- Subjects: Science, Commerce, Arts, Languages, Computer — any combination you choose (5 subjects, plus 1–2 optional)
Vaidhya Education (Mandsaur, MP) handles the registration form, subject selection, document verification and exam forms — with free guidance at every step. Download the open schooling form here →
Step 2 — Keep these documents ready
- Aadhaar card (copy)
- Passport-size photographs (2–4)
- Previous marksheet (not required for Class 10)
- Transfer / leaving certificate (if you attended a school)
- Mobile number + email (for results and updates)
Step 3 — A study plan without school
As a private candidate you study on your own schedule — but you're not doing it alone:
- Study material: The board provides free or low-cost material — follow that syllabus
- 2–3 hours daily: Six months of consistent study comfortably clears one class
- Doubt sessions: Free doubt-clearing sessions at the Vaidhya centre (Mandsaur) — or ask us on WhatsApp
- Previous year papers: Solve the last 5 years — the pattern becomes familiar quickly
Step 4 — Add a job-ready diploma alongside
While completing Class 12, start a computer diploma such as DCA or ADCA — you're eligible right after Class 10. That way, by the time Class 12 is done, you hold both a board certificate and a professional skill. See DCA/ADCA fees and details here →
How long does it take?
| Stage | Time |
|---|---|
| Registration + document process | 1–2 weeks |
| Study period | 6–8 months |
| Exam session | April–May / Oct–Nov (two attempts a year) |
| Result + certificate | 45–60 days after exams |
Questions everyone asks
Is an open schooling certificate valid?
Yes. Open schooling boards are government-recognised. College admissions, competitive exam forms (NEET/JEE etc.) and government job applications all accept them.
Can a Class 12 dropout get direct college admission?
Not directly — Class 12 must be completed first (open schooling makes that straightforward). However, diplomas like DCA/ADCA and NSDC skill courses start right after Class 10, so no year is wasted.
What are the fees?
Open schooling for Class 10/12 typically totals ₹5,000–₹15,000 per class. Guidance from Vaidhya is free.
Do I need to visit a school for exams?
Only on exam days, at an exam centre in your own district. All studying happens from home.
